With the arrival of the month of May, dedicated to Our Lady, and Mother’s Day coming too, I am reminded that under normal circumstances, we would have been gathering for our regular Parishioners’ Luncheon on Friday 8th May. Our Guest Speaker, Maria Matser, has agreed to visit us later in the year, or next year. Maria emigrated from Holland many years ago, and settled in the rich dairying area of Gippsland. She tells me it is lush and green after good rain, and the milk produced there is far superior to that of anywhere overseas. She is a delightful lady and will be an interesting guest speaker on the topic of her years at Myer Melbourne as a Lift Operator.
Catching up on the telephone with our Kitchen Crew, everyone is doing well with the necessary restrictions on our lives at the moment. Pat, Geraldine, Marion and Diane, and Kath and Terry, and of course myself, all look forward to the time when we can meet again as a community, and share our stories from this most strange of times. When out walking it is very heartwarming to meet parish friends and have the opportunity to chat – although at the supermarket it is a different story, everyone is very focussed and seems anxious to get in and get out as quickly as possible. No mucking around these days!
Stay safe and well everyone, take care of yourselves and cherish the many blessings given to us until whenever it is that we can meet again.
