By Father Nicholas Pearce
On Sunday 17th February a Joseph Schafer entered Corpus Christi College the regional Seminary for Victoria and Tasmania to commence studies for the Priesthood with nine other young men. Joe grew up at Oakleigh Parish but of recent years was a regular feature at Holy Family (often serving at Mass) and was a member of the Frassati Fraternity that calls our Parish home. We wish Joe all the best as he takes this important next step in the discernment process and we assure him of our prayers. Our prayers of thanks and gratitude also go to Greg and Justine (one of our regular cantors) Joe's parents. It is often said that the first seminary is the home, so thank you, Greg and Justine, for all the work you have done to prepare Joe to commence his studies at Corpus Christi. Let us continue to pray for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life and that more young people from our Parish will head the call to serve Christ in their brothers and sisters.
