A Bright Future at Holy Family

On Wednesday 21st of February over 130 parishioners came together for our Parish Dinner entitled Food, Faith, and the Future. The evening was a fantastic success and saw parishioners of many generations gathering together to share in each others company and to discuss some of the exciting events that planned for Holy Family over the next twelve months.

The members of the Parish Pastoral Advisory Board and their helpers set up the Parish Hall, and although it was a tight squeeze everyone fitted in. Everyone was well fed, and the members of the Parish Family Groups did an excellent job of catering for such a large number. The evening was hosted by Kari Quist our Director of Evangelisation and Catechesis and Joe Melhem our Youth Minister. Following dinner, Father Pearce had an opportunity to address everyone and spoke about the Parish Goals that were established at the end of our 60th anniversary year. These goals will be the focus of our pastoral activity in the years ahead.

At the Catholic Parish of the Holy Family, we are a parish that:

  1. Reaches out to and invites the people of Mount Waverley into an encounter with Jesus Christ.
  2. Welcomes everyone, no matter where you may be on your faith journey, and is committed to walking with you as you deepen your relationship with Jesus Christ
  3. Through the Sacraments, Formation, and opportunities for service provides an opportunity for its members to form a deep and lasting relationship with Jesus Christ and to live this out in their daily lives.
  4. Utilises the gifts and talents of its members for the building up of the community and the spread of the Gospel
  5. Encourages and fosters networks of smaller communities that promote fellowship, and strengthen our relationship with each other and with Jesus Christ.

Following Fr Pearce's address, we were able to view the first episode of the Alpha series "Is there more to life than this?" which was a wonderful introduction to the Alpha program which the Parish is hosting later in the year as a way of inviting the people of Mount Waverley into a deeper relationship with Christ. Parishioners were then invited to be involved in the Alpha program in a number of ways, either by participating themselves or encouraging a friend or family member to attend or by considering a role on either the leadership team or assisting with hospitality. For those who would like to register their interest, you can do so here. The evening finished on a high, and everyone encouraged, left looking forward to a bright future at Holy Family.
